Thames Valley Expo

Thames Valley Expo, March 2015 – Green Park, Berkshire

This was our first experience of the Thames Valley Expo event, and we can highly recommend it.

The morning at Thames Valley Expo began with a leisurely wander around the many Exhibitor stands.  We chatted to various like minded people, and made some interesting contacts.

Then came the first of the scheduled keynote speakers, Michelle Mills Porter, author of “Phone Genius”.  Michelle’s session was lively and she made some valid points about the difficulties you may face when having to conduct business over the phone.

After a little more networking, we returned to the keynote speakers arena to hear a compelling talk given by Pam Warren.  Pam survived the 1999 Paddington Rail Crash.  She recalled the tragic events of that day in graphic detail to a captivated audience.  The moral of her story is that it is possible to turn the most catastrophic life events into something positive.  She tells her story in full in her book, “From Behind the Mask”.

Over lunchtime, the Wonder Women Business Panel gave us the opportunity to ask questions of some of the motivational women involved in the Thames Valley Expo, and successful business women in their own right.  The session was led by Jackie Chappell, the first female CEO of British Rail.

Our final session of the day was given by the inimitable Brad Burton.  Brad is an unconventional motivational speaker and always delivers an entertaining and thought provoking speech.  His intention is to change the way we think – attend one of his sessions and see if it works for you!  He is also author of three books: “Get of your Arse“, “Get off your Arse Too” (do you see what he did there?) and “Life. Business. Just got Easier“.

Running alongside the keynote speakers were eight different Workshops.  From advice on selling your business through to guidance on using LinkedIN to expand your business, the Expo had plenty for everybody.

The Thames Valley Expo event was very well organised, provided ample opportunities for networking, the chance to listen to a variety of speakers and attend a variety of workshops.

The next event takes place on 25th June at Windsor Race Course.  If you like the sound of it, you can register here - it’s free, and you’ll receive two tickets to Windsor Races when you attend!
